Employees managed by external systems
When you integrate Plecto with an external system (like Salesforce or HubSpot), employee profiles in Plecto are automatically linked to those in the external system.
To check these connections:
Go to Settings > Employees.
In the Data suppliers column, you'll see which systems each employee is connected to.
Click Edit on an employee profile to view:
Connected systems
External IDs
Email addresses
Whether the profile is managed by an external system
Below, you'll find a list of actions available for employee profiles connected to external systems (also called external accounts).

Make the integration manage the employee profile
If you make the integration manage the employee, then your system will be responsible for updating your employee's name and profile picture in Plecto. If an employee profile is managed by an external system, you will see a blue info box at the top of the page.

Managing external connections
Move a connection to a new employee
If an employee is connected to multiple external systems, you can move a connection to a new employee profile. This action:
Creates a new employee profile in Plecto
Disables login access for the new profile
Links the new profile to the selected external system
Makes the new profile managed by the system by default
Why move instead of remove the connection?
If you simply remove a system connection (third option in the dropdown), Plecto may automatically reconnect the employee during the next data import, especially if the external system still contains a matching email.
To prevent unwanted reconnections, move the connection to a new profile instead. This keeps the original Plecto profile separate from the external account.

Remove a connection from employee profile
When you remove a system connection, Plecto will stop associating an employee with their external account (external system such as Salesforce). The employee's existing data will remain as is.
However, if there's new data coming in from the external account, Plecto might try to reconnect the same employee based on their email or create a new employee profile, which can be useful in case you accidentally merge two employees.
